  • No prior customs clearance knowledge is required for this position

Freight Coordinator – Import Projects

A well-established and privately-owned freight forwarding company, is seeking an ambitious  proactive and enthusiastic Freight Coordinator to join their growing team based in Felixstowe.

A typical day will involve helping with UK import business including booking deliveries, release requests, warehousing and European road etc. We’re keen to speak to people with experience from a freight forwarding background who have used Destin8/CNS.  Basic knowledge of booking sea freight and/or customs would also be an advantage, but this isn’t essential. Transport Clerks coming from haulage companies would also be considered.

This role would really suit someone with a year or two experience within logistics, looking to learn more and expand their experience, whilst be exposed to career growth opportunities.

The salary being offered is around £28K in line with skills and experience.

what does a freight forwarder do?

Import Freight Forwarder

Do you have freight forwarding experience & looking for your next role? Are you looking to join a well-established company and a friendly team, in which you can progress your career as they grow? Then this could be the role for you.

The Role:

You will be responsible for managing shipments from start to finish. Predominantly import sea freight, but you will also have the opportunity to handle other modes of transport

You will be responsible for raising new job files, collating shipping documentation, claiming UCNs, classifying cargo to its correct HMRC tariff codes and completing Customs entries. You will then arrange final delivery, all the way through to invoicing the job out.

There may be a requirement for some weekend work on a rota basis, but this can be discussed at interview.

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous freight forwarding experience
  • Familiar with shipping documentation such as Bills of Lading
  • Good customer services skills
  • Experience of using CDS

Desirable Criteria:

  • Transport experience
  • Customs entry experience
